JUST A COUPLE OF DAYS
Skirvin Hotel and Amtrak to Texas,
March 28 and 29, still waiting for Skirvin Pricing:
Off you will go on
a luxury trip. The first stop is the famed Round Barn in
Arcadia, then on to Edmond where a local guide will show you the
town. Did you know that UCO was our state’s first higher
education facility? That the city is filled with historic
buildings and stories. Let’s enjoy them. Lunch will be on your
own in downtown Edmond, known for its blend of gift stores and
eateries. In Oklahoma City, we tour the Dale Chahuly exhibit at
their Art Museum before we check into the Skirvin Hotel. The
Skirvin was once the finest hotel in the state. It stood empty
for decades before over $400 million was spent in renovations.
It is once more the state’s finest hotel. A Will Rogers
impersonator will entertain you at the included dinner. Then,
rise and shine on Saturday as we take the Amtrak train to Ft.
Worth. This afternoon, we visit Dallas with the aid of a local
guide. We will concentrate on Fair Park which is the largest
display of Art Deco in the nation. We should return to Tulsa by
9 p.m.
Little Rock and Oaklawn Horse Racing,
February 27 and 28, $271 per person based on double occupany
The tour begins in Little Rock with a
guided tour of the city with a stop at the Great Arkansas Quilt
Show featuring over 80 quilts and a stop at the Peabody Hotel
featuring the duck walk at 5 p. m.! Tonight you visit Murray’s
Dinner Theater for a production of Social Security, a play about
an 83 year old Cinderella looking for Prince Charming. On
Friday, we go to Hot Springs’ famed Oaklawn Park for a buffet
Lunch and live horse racing. Oaklawn also features over 400
slots. It adds to the cost, but for your protection, travel
insurance is included. If the weather turns icy, you get a full
refund minus the cost of insurance.
Bransonfest 2008, April 9 to 11, $381

For four years in a row, Bransonfest
has been named on of the Top 100 Events in North America by the

The festival features world renowned Branson performers, a
variety of booths with reps from area theaters and attractions.
There is also an entertainment tent, a courtyard filled with
entertainment and a “Taste of Branson” food tent,. For our time
there, we will see three of the shows, visit the American
